Good Beginner Wheel

Hi Steve
What do you think about the clay boss? I am leaning toward this vs the Shimpo Lite but you did not mention this one.
Kathy

Kathy,
Actually, I frequently recommend the Clay Boss throughout the site. I think it's a good little wheel and would encourage anyone other than a full-time production potter to buy one.

Check out these pages where I talk about it:

Clay Boss Pottery Wheel Review

It has plenty of power for the average potter (1/2 HP motor that can center up to 100lbs. of clay).

It is one of the least expensive wheels, which is nice.

People used to complain of the splash pan causing issues, but they re-did it and the feedback seems to be a lot better with the new one.

The only drawback is that the motor is a little louder than say, some of the Brent models or the Whisper models, but they cost a lot more.

All in all I'd say if you're leaning that way, go for it! It's a good wheel!

Best of luck,
Steve
