Lids for travel mugs

Question:

Steve,
I am having a local craftsman make mugs for me to sell at my coffee shop. I have avoided mass produced items and want to support the local economy. We have the option of using cork for a lid but I was hoping to find some kind of a rubber option. Do you know of any manufacturers in the US that make rubber lids?

Answer:

Scott,
Until now I hadn't done a lot of research on the subject, but I did some digging around and the best thing I found is these cool little Mug Hug lids. I haven't used them yet, but they look promising. The manufacturer claims they'll fit on 85% of mugs. I think if you have a good consistent potter he should be able to make mugs that would work well with these. I hope to get a chance to try it myself soon.
